Across the Group our engineers and scientists are recognised as world-class experts in their fields. We’ve been providing specialist advice and expertise in the foundations and geotech-nics sector for nearly 30 years, the origins of which are based in tunnelling. This dates back to our founders’ involvement in the develop-ment of London’s underground system at the turn of the 19th century – an association that is still growing today.

As the consultancy in tunnelling grew, so did the need for in-house geological and geotechnical advice. A separate permanent geological capability was established in 1978 and this has since expanded into a central capability including foundations engineering, to support the Group's global reach. In addition to engaging in our own specialist direct commissions, regional offices with their own geotechnical capability were established in the 1980’s to form a strong nationwide presence in the UK.

Our specialist staff cover a diverse range of technical areas from the geomorphology of landslips to the advanced numerical analysis of ground structure interaction in urban tunnelling projects. We provide management for ground-related risks and add value to projects. As well as the provision of routine and innovative foundation and geotechnical engineering work, across a wide range of small and grand scale projects, we are dedicated to developing new ideas with clients and performing front-end studies that add considerable value to projects.

Our engineers are supported by drafting and engineering technicians and administrative staff for preparation of drawings and reports utilising the latest CAD and computer aided visualisation techniques.

As a unit, we are globally recognised for our range of multi-disciplinary skills. Our presence extends world-wide, where staff are engaged in short term contracts to long term assignments. We maintain links with sub-consultants and draw on the expert of resources of professors from key universities, continually adding to the strength and breadth of our knowledge and expertise.
